Introduction

Welcome to BetterNest Kids. We take your family's privacy seriously — especially when it comes to children. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. BetterNest Kids is designed for families with children ages 5–17, and we are fully committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable privacy laws.

Please read this policy carefully. By creating a BetterNest Kids account, you agree to the practices described here. If you have questions, contact us at support@evolve-180.com.

3. How We Share Information

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

3.1 Firebase (Google) — Authentication and Analytics

We use Firebase for Authentication and anonymized analytics. Firebase does not receive any child data except anonymized, non-identifying usage events. Firebase's privacy policy is available at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

3.2 Social Sign-In Providers

When you sign in with Google or Apple, your email is processed through their respective OAuth systems. See Google's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.

3.3 AI Provider — Ollie AI Coach Only

If a parent opts in to the Ollie AI Coach, anonymized conversation data is sent to our AI provider to generate educational responses. Before transmission, the child's name, date of birth, and any personally identifiable information are stripped. We have a data processing agreement that prohibits the provider from using conversation data to train their models.

3.4 Sentry (Error Tracking)

We use Sentry to monitor app stability and fix crashes. Sentry receives crash reports, stack traces, and device information. It does not receive child names, dates of birth, or any PII. Sentry's privacy policy: sentry.io/privacy.

3.5 No Other Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information — including children's information — to third parties. We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.

3.6 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a valid court order, subpoena, or government request, or to protect the safety of our users.

4. Parental Consent (COPPA Compliance)

4.1 Consent Before Collection

BetterNest Kids requires verifiable parental consent before any child data is collected. During the onboarding process, a parent must explicitly consent to our data collection practices before adding any child profiles.

4.2 What Consent Covers

By giving consent, a parent agrees to the collection and use of their child's name, date of birth, avatar selection, financial activity data, and Ollie AI Coach conversations (if separately enabled).

4.3 Withdrawing Consent

A parent may withdraw consent at any time by deleting the child's profile from the Settings screen, contacting us at support@evolve-180.com, or deleting the entire account. Withdrawing consent will result in the permanent deletion of the child's data. This action cannot be undone.

5. Parent Rights

5.1 Review Your Child's Data

You can view all data associated with your child at any time within the app, including chore history, bucket balances, transaction records, and savings goals.

5.2 Export Your Child's Data

You can request a full export of your child's data by contacting us at support@evolve-180.com. We will provide the export within 30 days.

5.3 Delete Your Child's Data

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your family's data, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), encryption at rest (AES-256), Firebase Authentication with secure token-based sessions, role-based access controls, and infrastructure running on Google Cloud with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications. Children do not have separate login credentials, reducing the attack surface.

While we take extensive measures to protect data, no system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a data breach, we will notify you promptly as required by law.

8. Children's Privacy

BetterNest Kids is designed specifically for use by children under parental supervision. We are committed to COPPA compliance: children do not create their own accounts, parental consent is required before collecting any child data, we collect only data necessary for the educational experience, we never use children's data for targeted advertising, community features do not expose children's identities, AI interactions are anonymized, and parents have full visibility and control over all child data and features.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date, increment the version number, and for material changes, notify parents via email or in-app notice. For changes affecting children's data practices, we will request renewed parental consent.
